To celebrate Asian Pacific American Heritage Month, the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Atlanta and local Taiwanese communities were invited to join in Coke’s “Taiwanese Culture Day” on May 16 at Coke Headquarters in Atlanta.
The program included a drum performance, Taiwanese opera and indigenous dancing from the Taiwanese School of Atlanta. Coke also invited special guest speakers Lisa Chang of the AMB group, and local insurance specialist Juni Hsieh to share their personal experience about Taiwanese culture and gourmet food.
TECO Atlanta also invited Ms. Lisa Chan to demonstrate Taiwanese tea, Ms. Ji Hua Lo and Ms. Aili Chang to write Chinese calligraphy, and Mr. Taian Wang to demonstrate Chinese painting. Coke showcased local Taiwanese artists’ paintings and quilts in the company’s art corridors.
At a Meet and Greet prior to the program, Director General Vincent Liu of TECO Atlanta commended Coke for hosting the special event featuring Taiwan. He also noted that the Taiwanese company Nan-Ya Plastic in South Carolina is one the major PET Resin providers for Coke bottling. He said he hoped that Coke employees and their families would learn more about Taiwan through today’s programs, and that more people will visit Taiwan soon.
As a worldwide company, Coca Cola regularly features different countries in their cultural day events. Countries like Japan, Korea, India, and Vietnam were featured before. This year Taiwan cultural experience is introduced at Coke’s celebration of Asian Pacific American Heritage Month program.
