Welcome to the website of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (TECO) in Atlanta. Our office offers consular, commercial, informational, and cultural services to the six states in the Southeastern United States of America: Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee. We offer commercial services to Florida.
The US and Taiwan have been enjoying an all-time high in bilateral relations. Under the Taiwan Travel Act framework, the two highest-level US official visits to Taiwan since 1979 have taken place. US Secretary of Health and Human Services Alex Azar led a delegation to Taiwan to foster collaboration on pandemic prevention and recovery. US Undersecretary of Economic Growth, Energy, and Environment Keith Krach led a delegation to Taiwan to expand economic dialogue. The US has also demonstrated its support for Taiwan through the TAIPEI Act and billions of US dollars’ worth of major arms sales. Taiwan has provided aid to the United States during COVID-19 by donating a large amount of critical personal protective equipment and other medical supplies.
TECO in Atlanta has developed ever closer ties to our friends in the Southeast. The states we serve have taken numerous legislative actions to support Taiwan’s freedom, democracy, and international participation. During our 109th National Day celebration, we received proclamations of congratulations and well wishes from political leaders across the Southeast, including Governors, US Legislators, State Legislators, business groups, and think tanks. TECO in Atlanta helped facilitate the donation of over 700,000 surgical masks and 50,000 N95 masks to the states in the Southeast to help combat the pandemic.
We are working to deepen economic ties with the states in the Southeast. Industries such as advanced manufacturing, biotechnology, energy, and healthcare are growing rapidly in the Southeast and present great opportunities for collaboration with Taiwan. We hope to further deepen economic cooperation through a bilateral trade agreement, which would alleviate trade barriers, promote foreign direct investment, and foster information and technology sharing.
TECO in Atlanta maintains good relations with the well-known think tanks and academic institutions in each state. The Atlanta Council on International Relations recently hosted a dialogue with Taiwan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jaushieh Joseph Wu. Minister Wu emphasized the importance of the Southeast US region to Taiwan.
TECO in Atlanta actively participates in community events and is very proud of the Taiwanese Americans who are individually very active in these events. There are about 100 Taiwanese associations and schools located in the Southeast US. Taiwanese Americans fully serve as invaluable grass-roots diplomats.
TECO in Atlanta uses consistent visual and vocal presence to demonstrate Taiwan’s many-faceted development. TECO in Atlanta has set up many channels to approach the population in the Southeast US in order to make our information more accessible to the public. These include our official website, our Facebook page, Instagram page,X page, and Youtube channel.
I welcome you to contact our office with any questions or comments that you may have about Taiwan or your local Taiwanese American community. TECO in Atlanta is happy to serve as a bridge between our friends in the Southeast US and Taiwan.
