The Economic Division of the Taipei Liaison Office (TLO) in the Republic of South Africa is an overseas branch of the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) of the Republic of China (Taiwan). The Division is responsible for bilateral cooperation in the economic fields such as trade, investment, industry, technology, standard, certification, energy, SMEs and intellectual property, etc.
The main mission of the Economic Division of TLO in RSA is:
- To strengthen relations with the South African government and business groups and arrange bilateral economic consultations to remove trade barriers in SA.
- To promote bilateral investment, industrial and technology cooperation and technology transfer.
- To promote Taiwan's economic & trade policy, and facilitate the exchange of bilateral economic regulations and information.
- To collect information on South Africa’s regulations, industrial trends and government procurement opportunities to assist Taiwanese nationals in doing business in SA.
- To assist Taiwanese enterprises in investing in SA and South African companies in establishing commercial and industrial partnerships in Taiwan.
- To organise investment workshops and trade meetings. Assist Taiwanese enterprises in attending exhibitions in SA and invite South African buyers to attend trade fairs in Taiwan.
- To promote bilateral economic & commercial relationships with 22 African countries, including South Africa.
