The Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Los Angeles expresses its sincere gratitude to the New Mexico House of Representatives for the passage of House Joint Memorial 6 (HJM 6), strengthen relations with Taiwan! This Memorial demonstrates New Mexico's strong commitment to enhancing relations with Taiwan and recognizes the mutual benefits of closer ties.
HJM 6 highlights:
- Support for Taiwan's meaningful participation in the UN system: Including the World Health Organization (WHO), World Health Assembly (WHA), International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), UN Climate Change Conference, and support for Taiwan's inclusion in INTERPOL.
- Support for Taiwan-U.S. economic and trade exchanges: Advocating for more negotiations and agreements under the U.S.-Taiwan Initiative on 21st-Century Trade, supporting Taiwan's inclusion in the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework for Prosperity (IPEF), working towards a double taxation avoidance agreement, advancing bilateral trade agreement negotiations, and strongly supporting Taiwan's participation in the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP).
- Support for Taiwan-U.S. educational exchanges: Encouraging cooperation between New Mexico and Taiwan in K-12 and university education.
