Director General Vincent Liu of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Atlanta attended the 2018 Bill Forge Global Health Awards, presented by Medical Assistance Programs (MAP) International at the Delta Flight Museum on May 9.
The Bill Foege Global Health Awards are presented annually in honor of people and organizations who make substantial contributions to the progress of global health. This year’s recipients are President Jimmy Carter and Mrs. Rosalynn Carter.
MAP International is a Christian organization providing life-changing medicines and health supplies to those in need. MPA International began a partnership with The Carter Center in 2017 to provide mental health medicines and supplies to the Liberian Ministry of Health.
More than 400 guests attended the award ceremony. Distinguished guests included Dr. Raphael Bostic, President and CEO of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta; Ed Bastian, CEO of Delta Airlines; Michelle Nunn, President and CEO of CARE USA; John Bardis, former Assistant Secretary for Administration at Health and Human Services; Takashi Shinozuka, Consul General of Japan; Dr. Robert Redfield, Director of CDC; Dr. Anne Schuchat, Principal Deputy Director of CDC; Dr. Brenda Fitzgerald, former CDC Director; and Dr. Claire E. Sterk, President of Emory University. TECO officers Daniel Hung and Liz Wang also attended the event.
