Taiwanese legislators highlight Taiwan’s importance in visit to Montreal

A delegation of distinguished Taiwanese legislators, including Ms. Ting-Fei Chen, Chair of the Taiwan-Canada Parliamentary Friendship Association, Mr. Shih-ying Tsai, Convenor of the Committee on Foreign Affairs and National Defense, Mr. Ming-wen Chen, former Magistrate of Chiayi County, and Mr. Ou-po Chen, former Convenor of the Committee on Transport, embarked on a 2-day visit to Montreal with a multifaceted agenda.
Their mission involved garnering support for Taiwan's meaningful participation in the ICAO, urging Canada to support the Taiwan's inclusion in the CPTPP, and promoting friendly parliamentary exchanges between Taiwan and Canada.
During their visit, the legislators engaged in fruitful discussions with MP Peter Schiefke, MP Xavier Barsalou Duval, MP Angelo Iacono, MP Sameer Zuberi, MP Stephane Bergeron, as well as senior officials from the U.S., Japan, and France Missions to the ICAO. The legislators also spent time with leaders of the Taiwanese community in Montreal, thanking them for their contributions to the relations between Canada and Taiwan.
