This year’s WTO Public Forum was held from September 27 to September 30. The theme of the event was “Towards a sustainable and inclusive recovery: ambition to action”. Our session was hosted by WTI Professor Manfred Elsig, and we invited Lungile Portia Dlamini, Acting Director of Trade at Eswatini, Chia-ling HO, Head of the Technical Cooperation Office of TaiwanICDF, Gabriela García Merchán, a graduate student of WTI (former Secretary of the Ecuador Mission), and Ambassador Changfa Lo of the delegation. The session was sharing local stories in Africa and Latin America, what is the situation the women and youth in those vulnerable regions face to the threat of the COVID-19 epidemic. And from the perspective of the WTO multilateral system, how to respond to future international crises through WTO agenda setting. The seminar was focusing on empowering disadvantaged countries & people. We are pleased to have contributed!
The WTO organizes public forums to promote exchanges and dialogues among government officials, academics, experts, businesses, and civic groups to address challenges to the multilateral trading system. It has always attracted the active participation of industry, officials, and scholars from all over the world. Taiwan Mission has hosted sessions for many years with good results.
