Embassy of the R.O.C. (Taiwan) to the Holy See at the Holy Saturday Easter Vigil Mass

On April 4, Ambassador and Madam Ho attended the Easter Vigil Mass at St. Peter’s Basilica from 9:00 p.m. to midnight, presided over by Pope Leo XIV.
At the beginning of the Mass, the faithful shared light from a single flame, illuminating the basilica as a sign of the light of the Resurrection. Quoting an ancient hymn, the Pope said that Easter “drives out hatred, fosters concord and brings down the mighty.” He said that God responds to the hardness of sin, which divides and kills, with the power of love, which unites and restores life. He also noted that the world today is marked by mistrust, fear, selfishness and resentment, as well as war, injustice, and the isolation of peoples and nations, and urged that we not allow ourselves to be “paralyzed,” but follow the example of the saints so that the gifts of harmony and peace may grow and flourish everywhere.
Before and after the Mass, Ambassador and Madam Ho exchanged greetings with Holy See officials, cardinals, and shared blessings with fellow ambassadors. In this solemn setting, let us join the Pope’s prayer, that peace and hope may shine upon the world.
