The Florida Senate passed a resolution in support of Taiwan, to demonstrate Taiwan-Florida’s sister-state relations and strengthening bilateral economic, trade and culture exchanges between Taiwan and the U.S. A copy of the resolution will also be provided to Governor Ron DeSantis’ office as a tangible token of the sentiments of the Florida Senate.
The resolution recognized how Taiwan assisted the State of Florida by donating more than 420,000 medical masks to the state, county and city governments in its fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, and making a monetary donation of $300,000 for rescue, recovery, and restoration efforts in the aftermath of Hurricane Ian, demonstrating Taiwan’s commitment to helping its international partners in need. It also calls for Taiwan’s inclusion in the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework and the forging of a Bilateral Trade Agreement between Taiwan and the U.S.
We appreciate the Florida Senate’s support in strengthening the Taiwan-Florida and Taiwan-U.S. relationships. We greatly look forward to bolstering bilateral ties with Florida.
