A delegation of Youth Ambassadors from the Republic of China (Taiwan), advocated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, visited Florida from August 1 to August 7, 2011. During the visit Taiwanese Youth Ambassadors called on Mayor Regalado of the city of Miami, Mayor Giménez of the Miami-Dade County, Commissioner Bovo of the Miami-Dade County, Mayor Robert Wolfe of the city of Tavares and Commissioner Gemskie of the city of Kissimmee. In addition, Youth Ambassadors presented cultural performances and introductions to the Saint Thomas University, Florida Institute of Technology, Consular Corps of Miami and the humanitarian organization-Food for the Poor. The Youth Ambassadors had also exchanged views and brainstormed with youth organizations such as Doral Youth Chamber of Commerce, and Taiwan Junior Chamber of Commerce Miami Chapter.
Mr. Ray Mou, Director General of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Miami, expressed his appreciation to all the co-organizers and the visiting delegation for their efforts in promoting mutual understanding and cultural interchanges between Taiwan and Florida.
On August 5, at historical building-Coral Gables Museum, the Taiwanese Youth Ambassadors presented the beauty of Taiwan’s culture by demonstrating traditional Taiwanese Art of Tea, singing Taiwanese songs with ocarina music accompaniment, showing aboriginal dance, and the popular “Bo-Bee” steps among others.
The delegation concluded a fruitful visit to Florida and left for Atlanta for another one-week visit on Aug 7, 2011. All members of the delegation were deeply touched by the warm reception and the beautiful state of Florida.
The delegation, led by the team leader Ms. Hsiu-Chin Chou, is composed of six students of Wenzao Ursuline Colleage of Languages. Wenzao Ursuline College of Languages was founded by the sisters of the Roman Union of the Order of St. Ursula in 1966. The College has established collaborative relations with 84 universities and institutions from 19 countries in Asia, America, Europe and Australia. The graduates of Wenzao have excellent reputation of their language skills and professional performance.
