With the support of the Ministry of Culture, Taiwan Academy in Los Angeles and The Music Center jointly presented Life in Motion, an immersive digital art exhibition by Taiwanese artist Po-Hao Chi. The exhibition opened in downtown Los Angeles on April 24, 2026, and will remain on view through June 28, 2026. Through video projection and interactive sensing technology, the exhibition creates a dynamic art space that responds to audience movement, showcasing the creative energy of Taiwan’s contemporary digital art scene.
The Music Center, formally known as the Performing Arts Center of Los Angeles County, is one of the most important performing arts institutions in the United States. It has long been dedicated to advancing interdisciplinary arts development and public cultural engagement in Los Angeles. This collaboration with Taiwan Academy reflects The Music Center’s recognition of Taiwan’s leading creative strength in digital art and immersive experiences, and aims to present the diversity of the arts and culture of both Los Angeles and Taiwan through cross-disciplinary exchange.
Life in Motion was created by Po-Hao Chi in collaboration with Zone Sound Creative. The work combines real-time image generation with interactive sensing systems to build an immersive space composed of multiple dynamic scenes. As visitors move through and remain within the space, their presence influences the visuals in real time, making each experience unique and revealing the fluid relationship among life, environment, and perception. The early development of the work was supported by Ambi Space, a digital immersive exhibition platform, and was included in the Ministry of Culture’s publication featuring outcomes from its technology art creation and development grant program, highlighting the achievements of Taiwan’s technology-based art creation.
Po-Hao Chi is a Taiwanese new media artist whose practice explores the integration of digital imagery and spatial storytelling. In 2022, he was selected for an artist residency at 18th Street Arts Center, where he further developed his research into interactive imagery and spatial perception. The presentation of Life in Motion at The Music Center marks an important international showcase of his work and demonstrates the creative vitality of Taiwan’s digital art.
The exhibition opens on April 24, 2026, and runs through June 28 at The Music Center’s Digital Arts Space. It will be open Wednesday through Sunday, with weekday hours from 5:30 PM to 9:30 PM and weekend hours from 2:00 PM to 9:30 PM. Admission is free, and the public is welcome to experience the exhibition.
Taiwan Academy stated that this first digital art exhibition co-presented with The Music Center seeks to introduce Taiwan’s contemporary digital art development to broader international audiences through an immersive interactive experience. Taiwan Academy will continue to promote collaborations between Taiwanese artists and international arts and cultural institutions, expanding the visibility and influence of Taiwanese culture on the global stage.
