Director General Eric Huang congratulates Taipei 101 for being recognized as one of the ‘50 Most Influential Tall Buildings of the Last 50 Years’ by the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH).
In celebration of this great achievement, Director General Huang praised Taipei 101’s outstanding green building engineering. He also pointed out that not only Taipei 101, the people, but businesses and government of Taiwan are all committed to climate action in the new, post-Paris Agreement era.
In July 2015, Taiwan passed the Greenhouse Gas Reduction and Management Act which set out a goal to lower Taiwan’s greenhouse gas emissions to 50% of 2005 levels by 2050. Taiwan also set a goal of having 20% of its energy mix coming from renewable sources by 2025. Taiwan seeks to meaningfully participate in the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) to contribute to the world’s efforts in tackling global warming. Taiwan needs the support of the international community to join the international agreement.
At the Celebration reception, under the witness of Director General Huang, Taipei 101 donated a model of Taipei 101 to the Chicago Architecture Center (CAC), which will be displayed permanently in the skyscraper Gallery of CAC for both international and local visitors.
