President of Taiwan’s Legislative Yuan leads delegation visit to UK to promote bilateral cooperation

From 18-20 July, President of Taiwan’s Legislative Yuan Su Chia-Chyuan led a delegation visiting the UK in an effort to further enhance bilateral parliamentary exchanges. The delegation was composed of prominent Taiwanese legislators, including Chiu Chih-Wei, Yu Mei-nu, Tsai Shih-Ying, Lim Tshiong-Tso (Freddy Lim) and several representatives from Taiwanese enterprises.
During the visit, President Su met with Lord Speaker Lord Fowler to exchange views on promoting bilateral relations as well as strengthening the cooperation between Taiwan and the UK. President Su was accompanied to the meeting by the President of the British-Taiwanese APPG Lord Steel, Deputy Speaker of the House of Lords and the Prime Minister’s Trade Envoy to Taiwan Lord Faulkner as well as Lord Foster. President Su also met with Deputy Speaker of the House of Commons Sir Lindsay Hoyle MP, and was accompanied by the Chair of the British-Taiwanese APPG Nigel Evans. In the meeting, President Su expressed hope that based on such strong foundations, the UK and Taiwan could further deepen bilateral ties. The President of the Legislative Yuan also delivered remarks at a welcoming reception hosted by the British-Taiwanese APPG in Westminster Hall at the invitation of Nigel Evans and Lord Steel.
