Opening Ceremony of the 5th Taiwan-KMUTT Internship Program (TKIP)

On July 1, 2024, Opening Ceremony of the 5th "Taiwan-KMUTT Internship program (TKIP)" was held at King Mongkut's University of Science and Technology in Thailand. This program facilitates internships for Thai and Taiwanese students in each other's countries, running from July to August.

The event commenced with an opening ceremony graced by participants, including Ms. Yi-han Hsueh, Second Secretary of the Education Division at the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Thailand, Dr. Suvit Saetia, President of KMUTT, Professor Hong- ming Ku, Assistant to the President, and Associate Professor Asawin Meechai, Associate Dean for International Affairs.

In her speech, Ms. Yi-han Hsueh expressed gratitude to the guests, students, and partners. On behalf of TECO, she highlighted the participation of 18 Taiwanese students from five universities: National Chung Cheng University, National Pingtung University of Science and Technology, National Taipei University of Technology, National United University, and Ming Chi University of Technology. Additionally, 62 KMUTT students are interning in Taiwan, preceded by Mandarin training to facilitate their transition. Hsueh noted in line with the government’s New Southbound Policy, the fruitful collaboration between Taiwan and KMUTT and wished the 5th TKIP great success.

Following the speeches, participants were introduced to the laboratories and companies involved in the program. National Pingtung University of Science and Technology and National United University also presented introductions on students' backgrounds and their learning environment in Taiwan. This was followed by a meet-and-greet session, allowing TKIP students to familiarize themselves with their host organizations. The ceremony concluded successfully with encouragement from Vice President Lee Chih-wei of the Taiwan-Thailand (BDI) College of Technology, one of the students’ internship institutions.

Participants in the 5th TKIP include bachelor’s and master’s students in fields such as chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, materials engineering, and information management. The Taiwan-KMUTT Internship Program not only offers work-integrated learning and internships but also promotes cultural exchanges and mutual understanding between Thai and Taiwanese students.

The Taiwan-KMUTT Internship Program continues to strengthen ties between Taiwan and Thailand, providing valuable international experience to students while fostering mutual respect and understanding. As the program moves forward, it promises to build on its success, contributing significantly to the professional growth of participants and enhancing academic collaborations between the Taiwan and Thailand. This year's program sets a positive precedent for future exchanges, reflecting the commitment of both countries to educational excellence and cultural enrichment.
