Taiwan Donates Equipment Worth of E4.3 Million to the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Enhancement Project in Swaziland

On 26th January 2018, Ambassador Thomas J.C. Chen, on behalf of the government of the Republic of China (Taiwan), donated E4.3 million worth of TVET equipment to Hon. Phineas Magagula ,Minister of Education and Training, at Gwamile Vocational and Commercial Training Institute (VOCTIM) and Swaziland College of Technology (SCOT).
Ambassador Chen elaborated on the cooperation of the TVET Enhancement Project among the Taiwan International Cooperation and Development Fund (Taiwan ICDF), Swazi Ministry of Education and Training, VOCTIM, and SCOT with the objective of improving the consistency of the technical and vocational education and training in Swaziland. He pointed out the project was focusing on three technical skills, namely computer-based diagnostics and maintenance of motor vehicles, electrical engineering and information and communication technology (ICT).
Minister Magagula thanked the government of the Republic of China (Taiwan) for the kind donation and the service of a volunteer to teach in the electrical department of SCOT. He further assured that the equipment would be well utilized and emphasized that the improvements done in the sector would have far reaching effects on the economy of the country.”
