Taiwanese community in the Philippines once again extends a helping hand to the victims of Super Typhoon Odette (Rai).
A handover ceremony witnessed by Representative Peiyung Hsu was held at the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in the Philippines on 29 December 2021. Mr. Simon Su, President of the Taiwanese Compatriot Association in the Philippines (TCAIP), officially donated 2 million pesos to Vice Chairman Eddie U. Tamondong of the Manila Economic and Cultural Office, representing the Philippine government, to help the relief work of Odette. Mr. Tamondong expressed his sincere appreciation to the TCAIP for its kind and generous donation to help people in need in the Philippines.
The humanitarian aid from Taiwan for the recovery from Typhoon Odette includes USD 500,000 from the government of the Republic of China (Taiwan), 2.7 million and 2 million pesos from Taiwan Association Inc. Philippines and the Love From Koten Foundation respectively as well as the delivery of 10 metric tons of relief goods to Cebu by two C-130s.
As Foreign Minister Jaushieh Joseph Wu said in his tweet: “We truly care about our Filipino brothers & sisters.” Taiwan would give the shirt off its back to help its neighbors.
