Ambassador Jessica C. Lee, on behalf of the government of the Republic of China (Taiwan), donated 6 negative pressure medical containers to Palau at a handover ceremony on April 6th. The medical containers include a 40 ft. laboratory, a 20 ft. laboratory, a 20 ft. swabbing station, a 20 ft. fever clinic station, and two 20 ft. isolation wards.
Ambassador Jessica Lee stated that these medical containers were finally completed in April and handed over to the Ministry of Health and Human Service after more than three months of hard work by a team of 13 Taiwanese experts. The purpose of these medical containers is to strengthen medical facilities in Palau, not only in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, but also for other medical purposes in the future. The medical containers can effectively provide more Palau patients to receive needed medical care.
President Surangel S. Whipps, Jr. thanked Taiwan for its long-term assistance in strengthening Palau's medical capabilities in many areas, and continued to assist Palau in improving its anti-epidemic capabilities during the pandemic. Taiwan is a country of brothers to Palau, and once again thanked the government and people of Taiwan for their friendship and support.
Minister Gaafar J. Uherbelau expressed his gratitude to Taiwan for providing these well-designed medical containers. They can be used for a wide range of purposes, making them not only containers, but also hospital facilities. In addition to being used to fight against the pandemic, the containers can provide better medical services in the post-pandemic era as well.
After the ceremony, the parti cipants visited the medical container of the fever clinic station under the guidance of the Ministry of Health and Human Services. President praised the high quality of the medical equipment.
