On May 22nd, we brought the documentary to the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM). As the screen showcased the history of Taiwan's semiconductor industry—from its humble beginnings to its current success, built on years of struggle and sweat—we were deeply moved by the focused gazes of the students in the audience. It was a powerful reminder that the power of dreams knows no borders.
We would like to extend our special thanks to the Dean of the IIUM Kulliyyah of Islamic Revealed Knowledge and Human Sciences, Dean Dr. Hafiz Zakariya, for his presence. His encouraging words not only gave the students a boost of confidence but also reaffirmed our belief that through cultural dialogue, the connection between Taiwan and Malaysia can transcend economic data and truly touch each other's hearts.
In her remarks, Representative Dr. Lien Yu-Ping shared emotionally that Taiwan’s semiconductor achievements today are the result of the vision and sacrifices of our pioneers half a century ago. Facing global industrial strategies, Representative Liann emphasized the following:
Complementary Prosperity: With Taiwan leading in advanced chip production and Malaysia being a major hub for packaging and testing, there is immense potential for the two sides to work together and achieve synergy.
Deep Roots: Taiwan's cumulative investments in Malaysia have created 470,000 job opportunities, a testament to the deep friendship between our two nations.
Forward-Looking Vision: To deepen supply chain cooperation, it is necessary to review and update the Bilateral Investment Agreement (BIA). Furthermore, Taiwan’s accession to the CPTPP will further facilitate regional economic integration and inject momentum into our shared prosperity.
The post-screening interactive session was the most heartwarming highlight of the event! Seeing students eagerly receive Taiwanese-themed souvenirs and engage in enthusiastic conversations with our colleagues, we knew that a seed of "cooperation" and "friendship" had already sprouted in their hearts.
Taiwan-Malaysia cooperation is not just about technological complementarity; it is about the passing on of generations and culture.
Thank you to every IIUM partner who participated. Thank you for filling this event with infinite hope.
