Representative Phoebe Yeh was invited to attend the opening ceremony, where she expressed her appreciation to Taiwan schools in Malaysia, Indonesia, and Vietnam for their long-standing dedication to overseas education. She emphasized their significant role in strengthening Taiwan's ties with Southeast Asia and promoting Taiwanese culture and traditions. Representative Yeh also highlighted Taiwan's international recognition for its educational excellence, noting that over 100,000 alumni have benefited from studying in Taiwan. She hopes that the continued collaboration among the government, schools and Taiwanese entrepreneurs will help the overseas Taiwan schools strive for excellence.
Dr. Joyce Lee Yu-Jiuan, Director-General of the Ministry of Education’s Department of International and Cross-strait Education, expressed her sincere gratitude to the school board chairs, principals, and parent association chairs for their commitment to overseas education. She stresses on the importance of the new curriculum in enhancing students’ learning and critical thinking. She also noted that Taiwanese education allows overseas Taiwan schools to showcase their strengths and characteristics in Southeast Asia and assured continued support from the ministry for their development.
Notable guests included Mr. Lin Kai Min, president of the Asia Taiwanese Chambers of Commerce, Mr. Li Mou-Cheng, founder of the "Board Chairs, Principals, and Parent Association Chairs of Overseas Taiwan Schools Conference," Professor Pao Hsing-Kuo of National Taiwan University of Science and Technology, and leaders from four overseas Taiwan schools.
