State Visit of H.E. Tsai Ing-wen, President of the Republic of China (Taiwan) to the Republic of the Marshall Islands
On the afternoon of Monday, October 30, President Tsai Ing-wen and her delegation arrived at Amata Kabua International Airport in the Marshall Islands. Marshall Islands President Dr. Hilda C. Heine, First Gentleman Thomas Kijiner, Jr., Majuro Mayor Ladie N. Jack and Iroijlaplap Patrick Lein Zedkaia welcomed President Tsai at the foot of the airstair. President Tsai also gave her regards to the local school children and Taiwanese expatriates at the airport welcome ceremony.
During the visit, President Tsai witnessed the signing of the “Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of the Republic of China (Taiwan) and the Government of the Republic of The Marshall Islands on ROC (Taiwan)-RMI Presidents’ Scholarship Fund” and the “Memorandum of Understanding between the Republic of China (Taiwan) and the Republic of the Marshall Islands Concerning Cooperation on Immigration Affairs and Human Trafficking Prevention”. President Tsai also attended the signing ceremony of the contracts for medical internship program and hospital information system. She also visited the Taiwan Technical Mission and attended the opening ceremony of the Intelligent Environment Control Greenhouse and the Eco-Friendly Pig House.
During her visit, President Tsai was invited to address Nitijela. President Tsai’s address was translated into Marshallese and broadcasted live on radio to every corner of the Marshall Islands. After addressed Nitijela, President Tsai attended the "One Island One Product" handicrafts exhibit and learned about the unique handicrafts produced in the Marshall Islands.
On Wednesday, November 1, President Tsai concluded her visit to the Marshall Islands and left for next destination of the Pacific visits.
