Taiwan and the Marshall Islands Deepening Cooperation on Adaptation to Climate Change, Food Security, and Infrastructure

H.E. Ambassador Jeffrey S.C. Hsiao called on H.E. President David Kabua and newly appointed Ministers of the cabinet to exchange views on the key cooperation projects between the two countries. The two sides have reached a consensus to strengthen the Marshall Islands’ capability of climate change adaptation, food security, and infrastructure.
Ambassador Hsiao announced the establishment of the Taiwan-Marshall Islands Adaptation and Contingency Fund for Climate Change, in which 1 million U.S. Dollars will be invested to help the Marshall Islands adapt to climate change and become more resilient to the climate crisis; the initiative of increasing food production for the neighboring islands of the Marshall Islands, and the assistance on the development of infrastructure that benefits local people.
The partnership and friendship between Taiwan and the Marshall Islands have been deepening since the establishment of diplomatic ties. Climate change and food security are vital issues in terms of the RMI’s national development and Taiwan will continue to help.
