Representative Andrew Lee recently had a very fruitful discussion over lunch with Latvian Minister of Welfare Gatis Eglitis. Minister Eglitis visited Taiwan years ago and obtained an in-depth personal observation about Taiwan. He highly praises Taiwan for its achievements in political reform, implementation of freedom and rule of law, open society, economic prosperity, and technology development. He also considers Latvia and Taiwan are both members of democratic camp and like-minded countries. Both parties should strengthen trade, investment, culture, and people-to-people ties, and work together to resist the threat and invasion from authoritarian regimes.
Minister Eglitis also shares his experience of attending "2022 Copenhagen Democracy Summit” in June, by emphasizing that the Summit has contributed to consolidate the unity and resolve among members of democratic alliance to counter the expansion and invasion of bullying powers.
We are most appreciative of Minister Eglitis for his support and friendships towards Taiwan!
