The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) of the Republic of China (Taiwan) warmly welcomes the Honorable Dr. Denzil Douglas, Senior Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis, and his delegation on their official visit to Taiwan from March 17 to 21, 2025. Minister Douglas is visiting at the invitation of the Taiwan government, and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Chen Ming-chi personally received the delegation upon arrival to extend Taiwan’s sincere hospitality.
Minister Douglas, a former Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis, has visited Taiwan on multiple occasions. This visit marks his third under the administration of Prime Minister Terrance Drew, underscoring his strong and enduring commitment to Taiwan.
During their stay, the delegation will meet with President Lai Ching-te and attend a banquet hosted by Minister of Foreign Affairs Lin Chia-lung. Discussions will focus on strengthening bilateral cooperation under the “Prosperity Partnership” initiative and advancing mutual interests in key sectors. Additionally, to promote investment opportunities in St. Kitts and Nevis, Minister Douglas will preside over the Saint Kitts and Nevis Trade & Investment Promotion Seminar. The delegation will also hold meetings with Taiwan’s Ministry of Economic Affairs and visit green energy facilities and key cultural and economic development projects.
Since establishing diplomatic ties in 1983, Taiwan and St. Kitts and Nevis have maintained a strong and amicable partnership. The government of St. Kitts and Nevis has been a staunch supporter of Taiwan’s international participation. Since 2023, its National Assembly has unanimously passed resolutions advocating for Taiwan’s inclusion in major international organizations, including the United Nations (UN), World Health Organization (WHO), United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL), and International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). This bipartisan commitment reaffirms St. Kitts and Nevis' unwavering support for Taiwan on the global stage.
Taiwan and St. Kitts and Nevis continue to collaborate in a wide range of areas, including healthcare, education, tourism, information and communications technology, women's empowerment, climate resilience, and sustainable development. These joint efforts have yielded significant results, benefiting the well-being of the people of St. Kitts and Nevis.
