2024 Huayu Enrichment Scholarships application guidelines
The Taipei Representative Office in Denmark invites citizens of the Kingdom of Denmark and Iceland to apply for the 2024 Huayu Enrichment Scholarships, offered by the Ministry of Education (MOE) of Republic of China (Taiwan).
Purpose
These scholarships provide applicants with the opportunity to study Mandarin in Taiwan, increase their understanding of its culture and society, and promote mutual understanding and interaction between Taiwan, Denmark and Iceland.
Amount and duration
Scholarship recipients will receive a monthly stipend of NT$25,000 during their study in Taiwan. Applicants may choose to study for a period of three, six, nine, 12 months; or summer school (June – July or July – August). However, the length of the scholarship awarded is subject to the Ministry’s discretion.
Study must commence and end between 1 September 2024 and 31 August 2025 (except summer school). Scholarships cannot be extended or deferred.
Qualification
Applicants must be Danish or Icelandic citizens, above 18 years of age, with an upper secondary school diploma or above and be in good health and of good moral character.
Applicants who meet any of the following conditions are ineligible to apply:
ROC (Taiwan) nationals or overseas Chinese;
Students who are currently enrolled at a Mandarin language center, university or college in Taiwan;
Past recipients of the Huayu Enrichment Scholarship or Taiwan Scholarship;
Exchange students who are currently studying in Taiwan, or will be studying in Taiwan during the scholarship period;
Those who are currently receiving financial benefits from the government or another educational institution in Taiwan.

- Huayu Enrichment Scholarship application form
- A photocopy of the applicant’s passport information page(s)
- A photocopy of the certificate of the highest degree (diploma) and grade transcript.
- A photocopy of the admission application form sent to the Mandarin Language Center(s) in Taiwan.
- A signed English letter of recommendation (i.e. from employer, principals, professors or supervisors)
- Other supporting admission application materials (optional): such as CV, certificates of foreign language i.e. IELTS, TOCFL (Test of Chinese as Foreign Language) or award records
- A duly signed copy of the Scholarship Agreement.
