Wild Birds Taiwan Wins 1st Borneo Bird Race Brunei Leg

Bandar Seri Begawan - The Minister of Industry and Primary Resources, Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Utama Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Yahya bin Begawan Mudim Dato Paduka Haji Bakar, presented the Bornean Bristlehead Trophy to 'The Wild Birds Taiwan' after the team was announced as the winner of the 1st Borneo Bird Race (Brunei leg) during the prize presentation ceremony of the 1st Borneo Bird Race at The Empire Hotel & Country Club last night.
Announcing the result was Cede Prudente, Chairperson of the Borneo Bird Festival and Race.
The Taiwanese club recorded a total of 81 species, which according to Cede far exceeded the average number of species.
The minister also presented souvenirs to other participating clubs namely the Bird Conversation Society of Thailand, the Nature Society of Singapore, Wild Bird Club of the Philippines, Wild Bird Society of Taipei, Hong Kong Birdwatching Society, Wild Bird Society of Japan and Bird Society of Gujarat.
During the ceremony, a screening of a short feature presentation showcased the journey of the participants in Ulu Temburong National Park. Avid photographers and some of the birding enthusiasts marvelled in awe of the beautiful greenery and lush rainforests situated in the heart of Borneo.
The journey for the eight participating clubs continues in the next leg in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah.
